With Lauren Wagner
How did this film come together?
I was stuck as an actress in the industry with no agent and no credits but lots of credible training. I always had this story of love, connection, and hardship I wanted to express through my passion with space. I’ve always loved contemplating life beyond what I know and see. So I wrote the story and first few drafts of the script then realized I needed some help, that’s when I reached out to a fellow actress from the studio I train at in Toronto. What started off as just guidance bloomed into a writing partnership. From there we formed a team of very talented filmmakers and actors to make this come to life. My co-writer, Rachel Salsberg, and I executive produced and produced this special film together.
Did anything unexpected happen as you were making this film?
This film became more than what I expected for my first film ever. I always visioned it being a certain way, but it exceed that. The unexpected was how far we actually took this film.
What's the best filmmaking advice you've ever received?
The story will tell you how it wants to be told, you just have to listen and be open to it.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
This was my first film writing, producing and acting in. This was initially just something meant to be small and add a credit to my resume, but this project quickly became something I will forever be proud of creating and sharing to the world. I can’t wait to look back on this project and see the growth I’ve made and the places I’ve been thanks to taking a leap of courage and the belief in myself to make this happen.
