How did this film come together?
I didn't have any money and I wanted to melt a person's head. It then became a question of "how?" and "why?" I researched different ways I could do the melting effect, along with as many other practical effects I could fit on a 3 minute Super 8 reel. I had an old phone that used to be my grandmother's, and write the story around that. I was fortunate to have a very talented creative partner to help write a story around these hooks, and friends who were willing to dedicate their time to a project with minimal explanation.

Did anything unexpected happen as you were making this film?
When filming with Super 8 there's no editing or multiple takes. The first attempt at melting the head was carefully planned and calculated, but the camera didn't start. We had to "source" another head and lost the original set up. We had to finish the scene the following day and our meticulous planning was scrapped in favour of "winging it." Fortunately it all worked out.

What's the best filmmaking advice you've ever received?
This wasn't advice given to me, but something I learned that guides me in every creative project. Do projects that interest you, not what you think will please others. When you create trying to find your audience, you will most likely not find them. When you create for yourself, your audience will find you.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am thrilled that people get to watch anything I've created. To anyone who has watched all three minutes of my film, I owe you three minutes of my time to enjoy whatever creative project you're willing to share.
